PCO car hire cost calculator
Type the weekly rent of a PCO car to see the deposit and your monthly payments. It uses the same rules as every car on Kharo.
How the sums work
- Monthly rent The weekly rent times 52 weeks, divided by 12 months, rounded to the pound. A month is a little over four weeks, so the monthly figure is more than four weeks' rent.
- Deposit Two and a half weeks' rent, rounded to the nearest £5, the same as on every car page. It is held by Kharo, not the rental company.
- When you pay the deposit It is split over your first two monthly payments, so nothing extra is due before you collect the car.
- When you pay the rent Cars are priced by the week. You pay the rent monthly through Kharo, one month in advance.
- Getting the deposit back When you return the car. If there is no new damage compared with the collection photos, you get it all back.
Worked example: a car at £180 a week
- Monthly rent £180 × 52 ÷ 12 = £780
- Deposit £180 × 2.5 = £450, paid as £225 in each of the first two payments
- Payments 1 and 2 £780 rent + £225 deposit = £1,005 each
- Payment 3 onwards £780, the rent only

Questions
Is insurance included in the weekly rent?
No. The weekly price is the rent, set by the rental company. We get you competitive quotes from different insurance brokers, and you choose the one you want.
Why is the monthly rent more than four weeks' rent?
A month is about 4.33 weeks on average, not 4. Paying monthly spreads the weekly rent evenly over the months, so overall you pay the same as you would weekly.
Do I pay anything before I collect the car?
Your first monthly payment, which is the month's rent plus the first half of the deposit. There is no separate deposit at collection.
Does Kharo charge drivers a fee?
No. Drivers never pay Kharo. The rental company pays Kharo a service charge out of the rent.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The sums run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Kharo or stored.
