Why Kharo exists.
Two people from opposite sides of the same rental counter.
One of us drove private hire in London.
He rented cars from some of the biggest firms in the city. Every week the rent came first, before fuel or food.
The other ran a rental company.
He spent over ten years in London car rental, most recently as manager and director of a rental company.
One story, told from two sides.
Drivers did not trust rental firms, and firms did not trust drivers. Nobody in the middle was there to be fair to both.
So we built the middle.
Kharo sits between the driver and the rental company, with one job: to be fair to both.
- Kharo holds the deposit Not the rental company. Photos at collection and return settle any damage question.
- Rent goes through Kharo Drivers pay Kharo, and Kharo pays the rental company monthly.
- Drivers are checked first DVLA, identity and affordability, before a rental company sees them.
- Every cost up front Rent, deposit and insurance, shown before anyone signs. No admin fee on fines.
Where we are now.
Kharo is not open yet. We are signing up local rental companies one by one, so real cars are waiting when drivers arrive.
